Primordial Sound and Movement Class
Experience the combined effects of healing from both sound therapy and body movement. Move from within as you are bathed in the sounds of the crystal singing bowls. Body movement that is inner directed can amplify and aid in the realignment of the chakras as you experience the beautiful sounds of the seven chakra crystal singing bowls.
Modern science is just now recognizing what the ancient mystics have told us for years, everything is in a state of vibration. Stated another way: All matter is emitting a frequency or a sound wave. From the electrons moving around the nucleus of an atom, to the planets in our galaxies, everything is emitting sound waves, no exceptions. Just because we cannot always hear them, does not mean they are not there.
The late Edgar Cayce predicted that sound and music therapy would become the medicine of the future and thanks to the work of many gifted researchers in this field, Sound Therapy is rapidly gaining in popularity as a safe alternative to invasive medical therapy.
Scientific studies show that sound waves produce changes in the autonomic, immune, endocrine and neuropeptide systems.
The human ear is only capable of hearing sounds between 16 and 16,000 cycles per second, which is a very narrow range. Dolphins and whales are capable of hearing sounds that are in the 250,000 cycles per second range.
Everything that is in a state of vibration has a natural rate at which it vibrates, an optimum range if you will, and that rate is called resonance. When we are in resonance, we are in balance. One of the ways we can use sound to heal the body is to recognize that every organ, every cell, every bone and gland of the body absorbs and emits sound and has a resonate frequency.
Dance/movement therapy, a creative arts therapy, is rooted in the expressive nature of dance itself. Dance is the most fundamental of the arts, involving a direct expression and experience of oneself through the body. It is a basic form of authentic communication, and as such it is an especially effective medium for therapy. Based in the belief that the body, the mind and the spirit are interconnected, dance/movement therapy is defined by the American Dance Therapy Association as "the psychotherapeutic use of movement as a process that furthers the emotional, cognitive, social and physical integration of the individual."
Wendy Siracusa, M.S., is a trance dance facilitator, shamanic practitioner, and moving meditation teacher. Although many spiritual paths denigrate the body and elevate the mind, Wendy believes body, mind, and spirit are all interconnected and interdependent. She specializes in helping people access the wisdom of their own bodies—one of our greatest resources that is most often ignored or repressed. “The body never lies.”
